Ilot Ua with the Scotts – Priscalina

Ilot Ua with the Scotts

Only one night and then back to Ua where we had the place to ourselves.  The weather gods were still kind to us, the kayaks went back in the water and the tender down. We had a quick putter over to the island to do the circumnavigation and headed back to Priscalina only to see one of the slithery sea snakes trying to slither up the side of the vessel.  We manoeuvred around the reptile and boarded the boat happy – that we had eluded the man eater.  He wouldn’t give in and decided that the tender looked inviting and boarded up the leg of the motor over the top resting on the tiller.  Many photos were taken of the slitherer but once he decided it was time to enter the tender and hide in one of the many hidey holes we decided it was time to flick him back into the briny.

Late afternoon we navigated the fringing reef and went ashore to have a campfire and shoot some fireworks into air.  Thanks to Tannys and John off Aquabar for donating the fireworks, they were great.  The campfire was an added bonus albeit we are still smelling smoke on the hats, jackets, etc. Another great anchorage.

Next morning we’re heading back to Uere and with light winds the Parasailor came out and we had a very pleasurable sail.  Miriam also got to tick another box and landed a nice little Mack Tuna which became the main ingredient in the seafood curry dish for the evenings meal.

Back into the marina on Thursday, clearance paperwork completed and handed into Noumea Yacht Services, account paid and provisions gathered in readiness for the passage home
